When a dancer misses class they are responsible for staying up to date by
Attending a make-up class (if available).

Reaching out to their teacher if they need clarification on choreography or corrections.
Consistent catch-up ensures dancers don’t fall behind and keeps routines performance-ready.

3. PERFORMANCE CLASSES (Recitals, Community Performances, Parades)
Dancers may miss no more than 3 classes per semester (Fall/Spring) and still participate in performances (unless pre- approved by the instructor/director.
Attendance is mandatory for the 2 classes before a performance and for all scheduled dress/tech rehearsal (unless pre-approved by instructor/director).
Excessive absences may result in adjusted choreography, re-positioning, or removal from a dance if needed to maintain group integrity.

4. COMPETITION TEAMS
Dancers must attend all scheduled classes and rehearsals (unless pre-approved by instructor/director).
All dress rehearsals, run-throughs, and competition weekend run-throughs are mandatory with no exceptions.
More than 2 absences per semester (Fall/Spring) in a competition class may result in re-blocking, being moved to an alternate position, or removal from a routine.

5. COMMUNICATION
Notify the studio of absences via email or phone.
Open communication helps us adjust choreography and ensure your dancer’s success.
In case of inclement weather, we may cancel classes:
° Cancellations will be posted via email and our closed Facebook Group.
° If more than one class is canceled in a month due to weather, a make-up class will be offered.

6. ILLNESS
Please keep your dancer home if they are sick with a fever, stomach virus, flu, COVID, or any contagious illness.
Dancers should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to class.
If your dancer is recovering but well enough to observe, they may sit and take notes in class.
Watching class videos at home is expected during recovery.

7. EXCUSED ABSENCES (School Events, Funerals, Family Emergencies)
We understand that life events come up that cannot be avoided.
A minimum of 2 weeks’ written notice (email preferred) is required for school-related mandatory events such as concerts, sports, or trips.
Funerals and family emergencies are excused with as much notice as possible.
These absences will not count toward the semester absence limit if communication is made in advance.
